THE West Lancashire's premier narrow gauge (2ft) steam passenger and industrial railway that runs by the village Hesketh Bank. The village is located just out side Southport and is also near to Preston. The track is short, but runs through a semi-rural area, overlooking the flooded clay pit of a former brickworks. The site is ideal for childrens parties, school trips, birthday parites for yound and old and team building. The railway often runs special events like the Christmas Santa Specials and the BBC Children in Need train. West Lancashire Light Railway was established in 1967 in an endeavour to conserve some of the equipment used on these old lines and to recreate something of their atmosphere and charm of a long lost eara. The railway is run as a none-profit venture, supported by West Lancashire Light Railway Association and run entirely by volunteers. New members are always welcome... You can also book a 'Learn to Drive a Steam Loco' session, that lasts a full day for one or up to six people. Also avalable are day and night time photography sessions, but please ask for more information. For recorded information and special events details, please phone:- 01772 815 881 (inside UK) or phone on +44 1772 815 881 (outside UK).
